Lawify

Lawify demystifies Singapore's legal landscape by helping everyday citizens understand their legal position and options in minutes, not months.
The Problem
57% of Singaporeans cannot access legal help [source], trapped between paying $300-500 per hour for lawyers [source] or navigating complex legal systems alone. Time-sensitive issues like tenancy disputes and employment claims have clear remedies, but this knowledge remains inaccessible to those who need it most.
Our Solution
Lawify serves as Singapore's legal literacy guide. Users share their situation, upload relevant documents, and receive clear explanations of their legal position and available options within minutes. We help Singaporeans understand what's happening in their case and connect them with appropriate resources when needed.
We do this with the help of an AI-powered intake agent who asks all the right questions to understand each unique situation. All of this information is then processed by a swarm of specialised agents that work together, grounded in Singapore-specific legal context, to provide users with the most relevant resources and the right options for their particular circumstances.
Our Journey
Through rapid user testing and iterative feedback sessions, we identified key challenges and quickly adapted our approach to solve them.
Data Privacy Concerns:
Users were hesitant to share sensitive legal information digitally. We implemented enterprise-grade security with no data storage and no training use, giving users confidence their information stays completely private.
Tool Overload:
We initially built multiple separate tools for different legal scenarios, creating decision paralysis for already-stressed users. We solved this by creating one unified, standardised flow that guides everyone through the same intuitive process regardless of their specific legal issue.
Legal Advice:
We're exploring whether to provide actual legal advice beyond education and guidance. This would require building a network of qualified lawyers and volunteers to review and validate any advice before delivery, which remains in careful planning stages to ensure quality and compliance.
Impact
Since launching our MVP, Lawify has demonstrated measurable impact in bridging Singapore's legal accessibility gap.
90+ Singaporeans Helped:
Provided clear legal guidance across tenancy disputes, employment issues, contract reviews, and insurance claims with 90% satisfaction.
Under 10 Minutes:
Delivered comprehensive legal understanding in minutes instead of weeks, helping users meet critical deadlines.
Cost Savings:
Enabled informed decision-making before expensive legal consultations, with many resolving issues through guided self-help.
Expanded Access:
Successfully served underrepresented groups including migrant workers, students, and elderly residents previously excluded by cost and language barriers.
Pilot Findings & Feedback
We've tested our platform with nearly 100 users, primarily students and young adults from SUTD and SMU facing real legal challenges.
Participants:
Students and recent graduates dealing with tenancy disputes, salary issues, small claims, and contract questions after starting or changing jobs in the past three years.
Feedback & Outcomes:
Achieved 90% satisfaction with users appreciating the speed and clarity. One participant noted: "I was completely lost with my tenancy deposit issue, but Lawify helped me understand my rights in just minutes."
These pilots identified key improvements including more conversational interactions and enhanced data privacy that shaped our current development.
Roadmap
Over the next six months, we're scaling from our current MVP to a comprehensive platform through three strategic focus areas.
Platform Enhancement:
Develop advanced agentic tools and improved UI/UX for more sophisticated AI agents and better user experiences.
Scale & Accessibility:
Launch multilingual support, expand case coverage, and pilot community programs with educational and advocacy partners.
Professional Network:
Onboard volunteer lawyers and law students to provide oversight and validation for enhanced service quality.
